good solid product. Terrible documentation

I've been experimenting with this for a few weeks now. Its main purpose is to automate the star alignment process that you have to do every time you use your telescope (nextstar in my case). You don't have to calibrate it - you can do it manually. But this with the other two accessories theoretically allows this more or less automatically. Three things you need: 1) Skysense camera (for star detection) 2) Skysense GPS (for determining latitude/longitude) 3) Skyportal Wifi (date and location)…

Pros
  • WIRELESS TELESCOPE CONTROL: Level and control your telescope with your smartphone or tablet with the free Celestron SkyPortal app for iOS and Android.
Cons
  • Requires Socket

Save money.: Accessories for telescopes and microscopes

I tried many times. This evening it connected perfectly in the house both via direct WiFi and via hotspot. The sight moved normally and everything was fine with the surrounding world. I move the scope to the docking station from the outside and set it up - the connection broke after about a 45 second walk to my backyard. After the reboot, reboot and it doesn't even show the Celestron as a working WiFi hotspot. After a few hours of frustration, I gave up and put everything back in. He connected…

Pros
  • EXTENDED CONTENT AND AUDIO DESCRIPTION. As you watch, view astroimages and listen to audio descriptions of hundreds of popular objects including the planets, the Orion Nebula, the globular cluster Hercules and more.
Cons
  • You could choose a newer model

Do not throw away the hand control.

I am using this device with a Celestron NexStar SLT. This is a difficult review to write. I have a significant number of complaints about this device. My iPad 2 occasionally loses its Wi-Fi connection and I have to reconnect. It's a pain as I can't do this without leaving the Skyportal app. Also, directional controls are very cumbersome to use. If you center an object while looking into the eyepiece, there's no haptic feedback to tell you when to click and in which direction, and if you click…

Pros
  • EASY OBSERVATION: Requires no batteries or external power supply.
Cons
  • No power
