I was hoping that this tool would be a lot better than it is. It doesn't center any of the holes on a piece of wood. Close but not central. When you join two pieces of wood after drilling, the piece is never straight or level. There is always a curve or the boards are uneven. If accuracy is not important, this is a good tool.

It finds the center but no effort seems to keep one end or the other from lifting when I take out the drill to clear the shavings. I had to resort to using clamps to secure it in place. I'm considering gluing strips of sandpaper or neoprene to the clamp part to solve this problem. It is also difficult to align with a pencil mark. I don't know if this is the case with all devices or just this one. I would do it again, I would spend more for a better device.

I strongly recommend finding a better one. I'll let you know when I do. Aluminum may be fine, but the steel used for the clamp threads is very poor quality and the threads are not clean - meaning they grind a little as you screw the clamp in and out. When I opened the box I found that this tool does not center the holes. The black metal you are drilling through is not centered on the aluminum sides attached to the wood. In a photo you can see that the black metal and the drilled hole are off center! I drilled three holes in my board and none of them were centered. 2 were close to the edges of my board, but the hole in the center of the board was at least 1/16 inch off center.
