It's great to have multiple valves in a small shop

I live in the mountains of Southern California at over 6200 feet. I have 8 Compact Champion automatic valves in 2 small tanks. Because winter temperatures are often well below freezing, they had to install these valves about 12 inches or more below the surface of the earth. Unfortunately, all of the Champion Compact valves were used in the original installation, leaving no room to switch to the larger valves currently in use. accessible without major excavation and rework. Not Superior Product

Bought from a local nursery and it oozes profusely from the central stem. Called champion and they made me take him back to kennel (about 10 miles away); You wouldn't replace it directly. Bought a second one at a local hardware store; It didn't turn off completely and was causing a continuous drop off on my plants. I haven't caught it for a few days; so much to save water. This one couldn't return because he couldn't find the check and again called the champion who wouldn't do anything under…

Pros
  • Great Construction
Cons
  • Crumpled Packaging

WARNING: This item has limited compatibility

Something very important is missing from the description of this item: it will most likely NOT WORK if you try to install it on an existing valve body (the part that is in the mass) from another manufacturer. I bought this as a 'replacement' for my automatic lawn sprinkler. Aside from being the correct size (3/4 inch), I didn't investigate it further until replacing the leaking valve with it a few weeks later. SURPRISE! Wouldn't turn into a sprinkler thread in the ground! This is a non-standard

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • old
