Good bit, does what it's supposed to, works well

These are a good bit. I don't use it every day but I made some keyholes to hang various things I made. Most things I've done I've used 3/4 red oak and have had no problem getting the perfect keyhole to hang on the wall.

Pros
  • CMT bit voted best compared to other brands (Wood Magazine test)
Cons
  • Available in black only

Another great product from CMS!

This keyhole cutter is amazing. I had a 1/4" shank but just didn't want to use it. I feel much safer and my work is more accurate using a 1/2" shank. I use this for plates I make from walnut, cherry and oak. Good product.

Pros
  • Makes holes for your frames, signs or walls to hang straight and attach to the wall.
Cons
  • No Instructions

Revain drop the ball

I ordered a CMT keyhole cutter from Revain. Received OK. I went to use it, it was almost impossible to remove it from the case. The only thing you can touch are the very sharp cutting edges and either the hole is too small for the shaft or vice versa. As soon as I took it out of my pocket it did exactly what it was supposed to do. take it away A few days later I started using it again. This time the cutting head broke off the shank while being pulled out of the body. Called Revain and they…

Pros
  • Ideal for attaching wall hangings with screws and nails. Recommended with plunge cutter.
Cons
  • Unbelievable price
