WHAT OFFER! Best in Outdoor Recreation

From what I understand MSR started making this style of tent pegs a while ago. Absolutely the best tent for every tent, in every situation. Coghlan is the best choice for the money. MSR is charged three times as much because of the brand. I have both MSR and Coghlan and there is no difference except Coghlan is longer which is even better. I currently have 5 tents and only had enough MSR stakes to outfit one tent. These Coghlan Stakes are so cheap I buy them whole for every 5 tents I ownโ€ฆ

Cheap, light and strong

I used them on my hike through the Appalachia. I took two of these with me to stake out the part of my tent that wasn't standing alone and needed extra support. They lasted the entire ride without bending or breaking. I stoned them to death when necessary. They stick well to any floor. Where I have had to camp on panels, they were the perfect length to slip through my tent loops and rock piles. You have never let me down. I highly recommend them. I removed the small cord to reduce weightโ€ฆ

  • This is amazing

Lightweight and durable for camping and backpacking

We got these as extra pegs for our tent. The inserts are very strong and light, which is a plus. They can be driven into various surfaces without bending or breaking. We've used it in both West (Utah) and North Carolina on rocky and sandy surfaces. Loops on the ends would be useful, but we haven't used them yet. The biggest disadvantage is that there is no catch. any way to secure a tent, at least one that has little rings in the corners for pegs. There are small prongs on each stake blade, but

Takes abuse, good quality

I hammered these stakes into the cinder with another rock where the gusts are up to 30mph and they held up. I also trampled them in the grassy ground. They buckled a little because it wasn't the best idea to press down on them with boots, but the solid aluminum construction is still strong. Many other uses, highly recommended. By the way, I'm a wilderness firefighter and I set up and take down my tent a few times a year. These pegs attach in a variety of ways (if using for a tent, canvas pegsโ€ฆ

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • Appearance

I bought these tent poles not to use as tent poles but to keep plant markers in my garden. The stakes are supplied with a short loop of white nylon cord through a hole in the metal. I removed the hinges and replaced the key rings with aluminum factory ID tags hanging from them. The stakes provide attractive and durable support for the tags, and the copper color goes well with the red mulch I use. The stakes have 3-way flanges that prevent them from twisting in the ground. My only issue is thatโ€ฆ

Okay but weigh your options, quality and cost

Bought these for a 17 day hike to use with a tarp and bivy sack. They work well for the most part, but some are bent and one is broken. I didn't use a hammer, I used a flat rock to protect my palm and pushed it in with the strength of my hand. So I would say I was pretty gentle. The Kelty tarp I used had some similar ones about 3 inches shorter and no pull loops, but they seemed to be of much better quality and a more reasonable length. They fit and are priced right, but there's a reasonโ€ฆ

UPDATED review Good and great price.

A good thing for such a price. Bought this and 9" Boldstar tent pegs to compare. The Boldstar product is about the same size and shape as the Coghlans product. It comes with its own carry bag and has slings to pull it out of the ground what would make it a great product if the finish was better. Coghlans have a nicer finish with smooth edges. They have their own laces but no pocket. At $3 for 4 bets this is a steal. Coghlans also appear a little (um a hair) wider. Boldstars have a rough surface

Pros
  • Excellent price
Cons
  • There are some nuances

Inexpensive, high quality

Advantages:* Inexpensive - buy a lot New tent and parasol. I angled them properly for loading so I don't know how they would hold up if you just rammed them straight into the ground, but with the right angle they worked really well. I've tried them on soft forest loam and sandy (hard) camping, as well as regular hard ground. In any case, they withstood strong (but not gale-force) winds (there was also protection from the trees in the clay, so it was less extreme). They're easy to pull out - ifโ€ฆ

Lightweight and durable

I used these pegs to attach the rain cover to my tent (Marmot Pulsar 2) and set up various tarpaulin configurations. They are Y-shaped, meaning they have three ridges that are 120 degrees apart. This type of construction makes these bars much stiffer than traditional lightweight aluminum bars by increasing the cross-sectional bending moment of the bars. This means you don't have to choose between curved stakes or 2-ounce steel stakes. I weighed each serving and they came out 0.5 ounces eachโ€ฆ
