Only works with Mac Book Air 2013 or later. A 512GB NVME SSD from Western Digital works great with it. It costs about half what Apple charges and can be done quickly yourself. I used this to fit an internal Western Digital Blue SN550 1TB NVMe SSD (WDS100T2B0C) and it works great. Comes with a new longer screw to slightly increase the length needed as the SSD is now on top of the adapter. It sits a little higher than I'd like, but I've upgraded to two 2017 MacBook Airs with no issues. I would recommend it to anyone so you can get a bigger SSD without resorting to much more expensive Apple OEM drives or expensive OWC drives.

Just installed on a Samsung 970 Pro 512GB and the read and write speeds on my mid 2015 MacBook Pro are much faster. Increased write speed from approx. 700 MB/s to 2200 MB/s. The fact that the read and write speeds are the same leads me to suspect that there is a speed limit when using this adapter, however the speeds are faster than some of the other brands tested.
