Great way to breathe life into an old PC

I have a 5 year old desktop PC with 2 sticks of DDR3 4GB RAM. One of the two has failed - fortunately a rare problem. So I added that 8GB of DDR3 and now I have 12GB of RAM for better performance. Because of this, I added an SSD as the "C" drive for the OS, which greatly improved performance! Tech support was very helpful with advice on my motherboard and what RAM to buy.

Pros
  • Ideal for a small home
Cons
  • Fits

Using the excellent Crucial website, I was able to verify that this .

The main problem with RAM is making sure you buy the right RAM for your particular system. I was able to use the excellent Crucial website to verify that this was the right RAM for me (I ordered through Amazon to use Prime and because I had a gift card). It was a bit difficult to determine if this particular item was what was described on the Crucial website, but after comparing the specs I ordered this kit. Installation was easy and my computer has been running flawlessly ever since. This is…

Pros
  • good thing
Cons
  • some trouble

Doesn't work with Windows 7 32-bit/Dell Optiplex

Bought to upgrade an old (2009 or so) Dell Optiplex with an Intel Core Duo processor. Installed 4 GB RAM and two free slots. I used Crucial's memory scanner on my computer and it showed open slots and said I could upgrade to 16GB. I bought and installed two 4GB flash drives. No improvement. After a lot of research, it turned out that my version of Windows only supported 4GB of RAM, so this setup did NOTHING to improve my computer's slow performance. I ended up returning them and buying a new…

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Good but not great

ATTENTION: you order desktop RAM, but you receive the LAPTOP version

I ordered this desktop RAM, I was sure that this is desktop RAM, not only because of the product image but gradually article number and received a SoDIMM version for a laptop. I thought I made a mistake, but if you look at the packaging you can see that the RAM in the picture has a sticker with the DESKTOP part number, although it's obviously laptop RAM. I spoke to a Revain rep who sent me another stick after I sent mine back and guess what - RIGHT NOW. Apparently they tagged a bunch of these…

Pros
  • One year trial period
Cons
  • There are nuances

I bought 2 of these after using the scanner on the Crucial website to make sure I was buying the right one. I'm glad they're available from Revain for the same price or better; Crucial is a great company with solid products that I've relied on for years and Revain has great customer service. The sticks arrived with no static damage. They clicked and instantly sped up one of my computers. I upgraded this computer to Windows 10 and it had low memory and shutdown messages. This fixed that problem…

Pros
  • Dope 🔥
Cons
  • Weight

For games, check the voltage. otherwise great!

Had to return this package. But only because of a slight incompatibility with the available RAM on my old machine. I used Crucial's website crawler and this was the recommendation. RAM loads but causes freezes and crashes. After some research I found out that the RAM I installed (Balistix Gaming RAM by Crucial) uses 1.5V. This pack uses the more typical 1.35V. The Crucial site crawler does not check for this. In itself, 2 flash drives work without problems! I'm sure it will work for games too…

Pros
  • Comfortable
Cons
  • Thin

Works on my Dell Optiplex 780 DT

Hi Mom, recently bought me these 2 4GB sticks. My Dell OptiPlex 780 Dt is working very well now. I discovered this for some other people to know. You must first remove all your memory cards from your computer and then simply install the new Crucial 4GB memory cards in slots 1 and 2, leaving slots 3 and 4 empty. My computer would not boot with 2 4GB and 2 2GB on my computer. After my computer booted up and I logged onto 2 sticks of 4GB memory, I shut down my computer and installed my old 2GB…

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • Not bad but...

great memory, works great

I bought to upgrade an old Dell XPS 8300 for use in a programming project (with Jetson TX1 dev) - turned off the computer. The left power supply is connected so the chassis has been grounded to avoid static electricity. - removed old RAM, vacuumed 4 slots - just installed. fits very snugly, check alignment before inserting - booted with F2 key, went into BIOS to update memory amount. The speed is listed as 1333. Saved and completed - the computer works fine. did sudo apt-get install memtester…

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Don't like it, everything is fine

This is DDR3L (1.35V), NOT DDR3 (1.5V).

While this works with both 1.35V and 1.5V motherboards, it's not entirely clear on the product page that it's DDR3L (low voltage, 1.35V). I think the product description should be clearer. I'm currently testing my replacement set. The first kit I got worked great for about 3 days and even passed 4 runs of memtest86. Then after waking up from sleep 10 minutes before I was going to return the computer to its owner, all he did was a blue screen. Another quick run of Memtest86 turned the screen red

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Quality
