CTEK (56-870) Comfort Indicator Cig Plug: Your Convenient Solution for Battery Monitoring Review

Works well but now that I have it I'm not sure of its purpose. It connects to the CTEK system as intended and displays the battery level, but the CTEK unit itself already has indicator lights. I don't leave it on while driving just because it looks silly and is blocking the outlet. So yes, it works great, but at least in my opinion it's completely useless. Just take a regular cigarette lighter plug, no indicators needed.

I'm a big fan of CTEK products. I have several of their chargers. The problem with this cigarette lighter plug is that the red adapter at the end comes off very easily. This can cause the red tip to detach from the vehicle's electrical outlet. When you get that for the latest Porsche with a socket in the passenger footwell, it's very inconvenient. If you twist the plug at all, you'll bury your head in the running board with a flashlight for a while.

While I'm not a big fan of charging my car battery from a socket in my car, this is a nice, handy accessory if you have one of those CTEK chargers, particularly when changing your car battery. Simply switch the charger to power mode and disconnect the battery. Saves all radio and ECU settings. The light is distracting if you leave it plugged in while driving (obviously no charger), especially if you have ADD, as it keeps blinking when plugged in. it is not a steady light. I bought this accessory to use with the 12v socket in my Cayenne Turbo. Porsche specifies the height of the connector pins inside the socket to avoid damage. This part and the CTEK charger I use it with are the exact same parts that Porsche sells as part of their range of accessories, minus the Porsche logo. you are sure that it meets the requirements for use in your Porsche and you save around 40%. Works as advertised. You can plug it into a 12V socket to see a green, yellow or red light at a glance and know the charge level of your car battery. But the reason for buying it is that if you have a CTEK charger, you don't need to connect that charger directly to the car battery. This can be very helpful for those who have batteries that are hard to find like me. Mine is under the rear cargo floor and the spare tire has to be removed to get to the battery! While the battery pack is relatively
