Many other reviews mention a (very small) gap in the teeth when closing. If you want to use them for small, fancy applications, they're not for you. You should probably buy the right precision needlepoint for the job. I am an avionics specialist and they are perfect for my job and very affordable. I highly recommend them unless you're doing tiny, precise work.
These are cute little pliers. I've been buying more Irwin tools lately because they're more ergonomic. It lies really comfortably in my small woman's hands. They are strong and accurate. I used them for cutting and bending copper wire. With these pliers I get very nice eyelets to tighten the screws. My only problem is that they are a bit small. This is not a design flaw; I just had to buy a size bigger. And if I decide to buy bigger ones, I will definitely go for a larger model.
These pliers have a design flaw that renders them completely unusable. The wire cutters close before the surfaces of the pliers, making it impossible to grab and hold small objects. Look at the attached picture and you will see how the light shines down the full length of the tongs! And the gap isn't small, it's big. These are back! Please don't make the mistake I made of assuming that since they are an Irwin brand they will be well designed. You are not!
Was used to replace multiple outlets around the house (bending and cutting cords). That's a good size. It has slim, lightly textured, rubberized handles that are comfortable to hold. Irwin is not allowed to print "Vise" on handles. Precisely because Irwin owns the "vise" trademark, the term should be reserved for locking pliers. They do NOT lock. I suspect they were trying to tie the "vise" to the rubberized handle. However, they work like normal needle nose pliers and do not close. I didn't…
I have several Irwin pliers and clamps in my tool kit, but these needle nose pliers may have a design or manufacturing defect. As other reviews have pointed out, the full closure leaves a large uneven gap running from the tips to where the two jaws meet. The second photo shows the size of the gap and how it compares to another brand of pliers. I'm guessing the other possibility is that Irwin specifically designed these splitting tongs? When working with one hand, such as trying to form a loop…
