I have a 46 inch freshwater nose with a classic 5 sided rectangular light box with a single fluorescent tube which is fairly standard for aquariums. I'm tired of changing bulbs. This lamp fits. So this light works. But it's not as bright as I was hoping. It is advertised for 18-24" aquariums. They were regular 10-20 gallon tanks. But I tried 20 gallons and it just wasn't bright enough. I suppose if you didn't have live plants and only wanted you to see the tank that might be ok. That said, I still find it a bit boring. I think it's a much better fit for a 10 gallon tank.
