Good long range radio

Good long range radio. The problem is they had to use the BNC connector on the radio instead of the antenna bolt. All I have is a radio and a Dakota Alert base station, which I really like. I wish the radio had an external microphone. The base station has a BNC connector for an external antenna.

Pros
  • Excellent price
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine

Works well, hope it will last as long as the base station

This product is an add on to the base station/motion detector kit I bought in February 2011. a mile, and worked great for that purpose. With the addition of radios we can safely communicate back and forth through oak, mesquite, bushes and cacti up to a mile or so away. I hope this portable will last as long as the base station.

Excellent communication system with remote notification available

I bought another pair of radios in addition to the pair I received last year. I originally got them because others I've worked with had them. I like that they use a frequency that most people don't use. (virtually no crosstalk) I have complimented this purchase with a pair of Dakota Alert infrared alerts. Now I can chat with my friends and get notifications about people coming to our neighborhood. They all run on AA batteries and the radios come with rechargeable batteries and a mains charger…

40-50 hours of battery life on a single charge

Excellent radios. I bought 2 of these. I've been using it all day for almost 3 months. I have used GMRS radios for over 10 years and once I try them I will never go back. They operate on a different frequency and I have never heard them speak from anyone else. They also have private channels and use cheap rechargeable AAA batteries that can be found everywhere, with a battery life of 40-50 hours on a single charge. I also bought their base stations which can be left plugged in and powered on…

MURS radio toy

Portable radio conforms to the declared. An easy-to-use, no-frills MURS radio capable of transmitting and receiving on all 5 MURS frequencies. However, considering the wearable device's current price and market offerings, there is a lot to be said for the fit and finish of the device. The radio is made of very light, plastic-like ABS that cannot withstand being dropped or used in harsh environments. The antenna is detachable, but the adapter is not included, so antenna upgrades are not…

NON-STANDARD ANTENNA CONNECTION.

I have purchased a Dakota Alert phone and base station and they generally work as advertised. They have a pretty good range and are very easy to use. The phone is quite bulky, but I can live with that. The main problem is that the antenna connection is not standard. One of the big advantages of MURS over bubble radios is that you can fit a longer antenna for more range, and this disadvantage negates that advantage. I searched the internet and couldn't find any antenna or adapter for this phone.

Rugged enough, inexpensive, with reasonable range

These relatively inexpensive radios bridge the gap between FRS and more expensive "business" radios without requiring a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) license, which most Humans do not interfere with the use of specific FRS frequencies, or so I have been made to understand. Or maybe it was just us. Anyway, back to the radio: pretty solid, withstood a couple of good falls, and one of us got out in the rain before showing just a slight drop in volume. Very helpful that there is a desktop

Feedback from a longtime contact

I'm an experienced radio operator. I have been using CB for 45 years, ham radio for 19 years and lead a radio disaster response team. I wanted to see if it's worth going to MURS as a backup frequency based on how well it correlates with the MW band. That's why I started the Dakota Alert Radio. For €70 you can't go wrong. This gave me the 2 mile range between wearables that he advertises. There's no background noise, so the sound is crystal clear with no distractions. The next step is a Motorola

  • CB and radio equipment

Affordable connectivity, ease of use, excellent vendor support.

We currently use three of these portable devices and plan to purchase a fourth. Here in rural Southwest Ohio, where hills and forests abound, these radios' 1 watt output provides a reliable one-mile range. The range is greater when driving in convoys on long, unobstructed stretches of motorway. They are rarely used and have provided communications for five weekend events in the past two months. For less than a hundred dollars I wasn't expecting much. These devices have exceeded my expectations.

Pros
  • Portable audio and video device
Cons
  • Quick start guide
