Description of ๐ŸŽจ DANIEL SMITH Extra Fine Watercolor Paint - Sugilite Genuine: Vibrant 15ml Tube for Artists

DANIEL SMITH is the Innovative Manufacturer of Beautiful Watercolors for Artists Worldwide, and makes the largest range of watercolors of any manufacturer, more than 240 colors. The 240+ color collection includes the exciting PrimaTek watercolors made from minerals (like Amethyst) plus other unique colors (like Moonglow) not available elsewhere, and Luminescent Watercolors which allow artists to capture the luminescent colors that exist in nature that. A beautiful granulating pigment from South Africa, Sugilite is another standout in our line of PrimaTek colors. First found in 1944 and named for its Japanese discoverer, the rare opaque mineral ranges from grayish lavendar to pink to deep purple. Transparent as a watercolor pigment, it combines subtle fuchsia pink and warm gray in a single strongly textural color. In a wash, the gray settles with a slight graphite-like sheen, while the pink rises to resemble the color in an overcast dawn sky. It's a great complement to golds, oranges and greens, including Quinacridone Gold and Sap Green. Excellent Lightfastness, Transparent, Granulating, Low staining. Sugilite mineral. Conforms to ASTM D4236

Great new favorite!

beautiful, AWESOME colour! This sugilite is a beautiful purplish gray warm shade with a lovely shimmer. I put it in the pan from the tube and it dried beautifully. Already one of my favorites!

Very interesting color

Sugelite is very thin but has an interesting shimmer effect. I used it for moonlit rocks/cliffs. Daniel Smith's colors are phenomenal and live up to the hype - the colors make you think about how to display them. I don't have the full DS range but they are the stars of the show. Moonglow and Cascade Green are also favorites.

Pros
  • Articles for drawing, painting and design
Cons
  • Some flaws

Glitter Paint

I ordered my first PrimaTek paint, Sugilite Genuine. I don't see the subtle hue changes described, and more importantly, the color has a bright sheen. Like glitter nail polish. It should not be used to mix with other colors unless you specifically want areas of glitter in your painting. "Graphite Gloss". It's much more than the brilliance of graphite. For me it was a waste of money

Pros
  • Arts, Crafts & Sewing
Cons
  • Big and Bulky
