Buy the original and save your money. the bolt broke when tightened by hand! It was hard to start once I finally got it fixed. Disappointing.

My advice, just restore the original and take it easy. This starter doesn't work half the time. That's wrong, it mostly doesn't work. Adjusting the bracket to size is the least fuss, this starter will damage your flywheel. Flywheels cost a lot of money.

Installed, checked on the go, works fine. I put the boat in the water 5 days after installing the starter motor. The first ignition worked great. The second worked great. Drive a boat, go fishing, launch the boat. Nothing, the starter stopped working after 6 times. I went home and checked, the solenoid works, the starter doesn't spin. open windings

I have a pair of 1995 200 Johnson Ocean Runners. The starboard engine was difficult to start and my old starter didn't seem to spin the engine very quickly. The perfect choice for a good value replacement part versus an OE part that costs 250% more. Screwed it in right away. Scrolled straight up. The only minor issue was that it didn't come with a threaded ground stud. There is a faucet hole. So if you are replacing an old starter use the original ground stud and nut or simply attach the ground to one of the 4 main frame bolts.

I have a 1998 Johnson 200 HP Ocean Runner. The starter motor is attached to the engine with four bolts. Since the holes on the starter didn't line up exactly with the holes on the engine, I was only able to attach the starter with 3 screws. However, the 3 screws correctly positioned the starter and held the starter firmly in place. The starter worked great the entire week we were in the Florida Keys and made extensive use of the boat every day.

As a previous reviewer said. The starter works fine but the holes don't line up. I think the reason is that the OEM starter has a nut on each side of the starter bottom plate that holds it together and also holds the bottom bracket. The new starter has 2 nuts on each side that offset the bracket by about 1/8 inch or the thickness of the nut. I don't think it matters much considering the OEM price.
