The starter was exactly as advertised and was exactly the same as the original starter. It was ready to use right out of the box and worked great once installed.

Fired up my old engine

Added electric starter to Johnson 1968 20hp Using components from a landfill. The old starter barely turned. ordered one, 15 minutes to replace, and the engine started from the cold in 5 seconds on a motorcycle battery. Couldn't be happier. to go fishing

Back one by one hoping it was just a bad fitment and not a general defective part

First of all it got me in a bind on my very first trip post fitment. The top nut has loosened, causing the return spring to lose compression and preventing the starter gear from disengaging from the flywheel. Generally decent quality. Back for another one hoping this is just a bad assembly and not a defective part in general.

This starter works great judging by the weight and looks.

I bought this starter for my 1983 Johnson Sea Hoarse 25hp, I was very skeptical because of the price. This starter works great and by the weight and looks seems as durable as a factory BOSH starter. I'm a certified HD technician and again was nervous that it might be easy and just plain frustrating, but it isn't. Take care when installing, don't let it come loose when removing the shipping nuts if that is necessary for the install and you should have no problems, THIS STARTER WAS A GREAT…
