My old Nissan pickup had a built in hydraulic booster. Little did I know my new 2018 Ford didn't have one of these; I dropped the back door when I opened it and was very surprised. It was very easy to install by just loosening a few screws. It came with a plastic liner to separate the metal from the truck's aluminum body. It's unobtrusive and works exactly as it's supposed to. This should be one of the first aftermarket add-ons anyone should get when getting a new truck!

This trunk opener works exactly as it's designed. I installed it on my 2015 Ford F150. I don't use it every day so I haven't tested its durability yet, but for the price I think it's a great mod that can help others who can't lift or don't have hands to slow down the tailgate. I agree with other reviews, this item should be standard equipment. I also took the advice of other reviewers and put a bumper between the two panels and the surface of my car. I applied masking tape to the mounting plates and cut the tape with a razor blade. Hopefully the tape will prevent corrosion issues. The included torx wrench worked well, you just need to apply a little more torque; This is easy to do using a 10mm wrench as instructed. Recommendations: 1) Dip the brackets in Plasti Dip for a) aesthetics b) to keep the steel from touching the aluminum body panels (metal odds) 2) forget the T50 wrench that comes with the package, it's a free Chinese one Fit with tolerance. Man. If you own a truck and hate it when the tailgate slams shut, get this thing. It's that easy to install. Follow the instructions. Feels solid and looks like a factory part. Using my cordless impact wrench, 50 socket, 10mm long and 5mm hex made the installation easy. You will also need a very small screwdriver to pry open the clamps on the post so you can slide them over the balls more easily. A tricky part is the bracket that attaches to the tailgate. I gave this 5 stars because the product works well, brand new anyway. I don't really abuse my tailgate so for my truck (2016 F-150) it should last a long time. I would deduct half a star because the T50 torx wrench they send is useless unless you want to crack your knuckles and remove a bolt on your truck.
