Derale 15715 Engine Filter Relocation Review

The description does NOT describe it clearly enough for the buyer to understand that this item will only work with a 3/4-16 filter! To avoid this problem, they will provide 10 cents for an alternative part that works with different filter part numbers, instead of going to their website (not Amazon's) to purchase the correct part number after decoding 10 different part number descriptions to have.

Replaced the motor in my zero turn mower. I upgraded to one with an oil filter, thought that would be a good idea. The motor fits perfectly, only the filter cannot be unscrewed behind the frame. Moving the filter to the back of the frame worked great. The only downside was that the hose connectors were plastic and I couldn't stop them from leaking. I bought brass, there are no more leaks. I used Oatley Fastape Teflon tape to avoid corrosion issues between the brass and aluminum.

The workmanship here is damn bad. I pulled in about two or three threads before the aluminum fitting seized and seized. I checked the oil filter hose adapter and it was also slightly smaller which required a lot of force to turn the oil filter hose. I don't think this thing won't leak under pressure so I sent it back for a refund. Never had an issue with Derale electric fan rebuild parts and I am disappointed that the rest of the product line does not have the same. qualitative.

This kit worked great for several months but the threaded connections started to leak. I used teflon tape as recommended in the instructions and tightened it to spec, but it was still leaking slowly. Another downside is that only one o-ring is included where the adapter bolts onto the engine block and I tried using a different o-ring if it was a similar size and width but it didn't seal well . I decided to just remove the kit from my car because of all the headaches it was giving me.

I finally have the setting I want. The connections come straight out of the adapter as there is no room at an angle. I also went for a remote mount with straight ports so the hoses go down and the filter mounts upside down. And no, the location of the filter has nothing to do with the return when the engine is off. If the filter has a valve, it will work in any position. I added a tee and Schrader valve on the intake side of the boom so I can drain the filter into the crankcase before removing…

Everything you need is included. The engine manufacturer installed the filter upside down, which resulted in a very messy filter change. Great product but prepare before ordering. If you visit Derale's website, you will find that after a little research, the manufacturer makes several versions of this product.
