Blades dull quickly.

Starts well but blades dull quickly. I can't get the super sharp colored pencil tip I need for my art. Rubbing with a graphite pencil usually helps, but in reality this is not the case. I've had an old discontinued electric Derwent for years and loved it. This is a big disappointment. Sorry I accidentally missed the return window.

Pros
  • Replacement sharpener available separately (part number 2302353)
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors

I am very satisfied with this pencil sharpener

I am very satisfied with this pencil sharpener. I was looking forward to it coming out. I had a Derwent battery powered pencil sharpener that I bought about 6 years ago. It was wonderful and when he died I was devastated. I've looked everywhere but it seems like they don't make them anymore. I was very happy to find it. It's a bit small, but it has 2 different holes for 2 different types of glasses. I tried three or four different brands of pencils and they all worked great. I didn't have any…

Pros
  • sharpener with cover security holes; tool for removing broken tips; visible chip container with easily removable lid
Cons
  • Slightly torn

WILL NOT WORK WITH DERWENT ROUND PENCILS, NO IMMEDIATE BREAKAGE

Absolutely not worth it. First, why make a branded pencil sharpener that doesn't match the brand of pencil it's supposedly intended for. The sizes are the same as each regular and large standard. But Derwent Inktense and Derwent Pastel Pencils are round. Unlike the traditional hexagonal pencil pattern that Derwent has also chosen for its watercolor pencils. The size is impractical as it barely fits in most pencil sharpeners unless you need a short pencil point. But since they arrive sharpened…

Pros
  • Requires 4 AA batteries, not included; alkaline batteries recommended; do not use rechargeable batteries
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
