Works as advertised.

I was a little hesitant to make this purchase due to some bad reviews but I needed a cordless heat gun. Despite some negative reviews, it worked flawlessly. It has two settings, low and high. I've used it on some heat shrink tubing for some wire connections and it got the job done with no problems.

Pros
  • LED to illuminate dark areas when using the tool
Cons
  • Out of style

Warm (literally)

It would be a good toy for a child and maybe a drink dryer. It should be called a relatively warm gun as I don't get hot enough to really do everything you need a heat gun for. Do yourself a favor and buy a hair dryer. The coolest thing is that the battery life is about 5 minutes and then you don't have to worry about it anymore!

Pros
  • Heat guns
Cons
  • New competitors have appeared

It heats up but wasn't actually meant to be produced as a product.

I think there is a good reason why there are so few battery powered heat guns on the market. This gun heats up too slowly, but the big problem is that there isn't enough air to push the heat out. The air is literally twice as weak as I expected. I don't think Dewalt should have offered this as a product. I returned mine.

Pros
  • Soldering and Soldering Accessories
Cons
  • Some Mistakes

Excellent heat gun for welding and soldering

If you need a heat gun, this is a great option. Eventually all power tools will be cordless. DeWalt came up with a great option while other manufacturers didn't bother designing or making it. This tool is compatible with all DeWalt 20V batteries. When the battery needs recharging, you can simply and easily use another 20V battery from another DeWalt tool. This heat gun works much better than a butane torch when an outlet isn't available.

Pros
  • Tools and housewares
Cons
  • Very expensive
