Bad Blades: Saw Blades, Parts & Accessories

After using these blades for about 3 weeks I have noticed raised lines on my woodwork. After checking the blades, I saw several chips on the blade. I turned them over and after 2 or 3 uses the same thing. Not sure if it was a factory defect but it was a waste of money and expensive pieces of wood had to be replaced to fix the problem.

Pros
  • High Test Scores for Support and Durability
Cons
  • Modern

Blades generate chips on Dewalt 735 - not worth the money.

Recently changed blades on my father's Dewalt 735 planer of an unknown brand. Thought they would be perfect for all purposes but they don't work well with a planer! They made two good passes on typical DF 2x4 spikes and then started hitting everything else I've been through! After much research on the internet on woodworking sites, it turned out that knives from other manufacturers work better with this simple plane. So garbage!

Pros
  • Working in "hands-free" mode
Cons
  • Doubt

Stupid in a day! suitable for planer knives

These blades are garbage. Two days ago I received new knives for my DW735 planer, installed them immediately and the next day they were already torn. I was probably able to plan out 50-60 feet of cherry and walnut planks that I had already sorted and smoothed before I had to flip the blades to the other side. I called Dewalt and spoke to their customer service who completely ignored my issue. Terrible product, terrible customer service.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • So-so

Beware of trouble, the blades can get flat

So I installed these blades, it's easy. But something is wrong with the blades. When planning the 2" wide cherry, the planks were creased. At first I thought it was wood, but as I continued to cut wood, the nick didn't go away or got worse. So I put some boards through the drum sander, flat them out made then put the same boards through the planer the bowl shape is back these blades are jacked up or maybe one of them isn't sure yet replacement kit after seeing how they work I will update myโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • Useless features

Dewalt Quality - Blades

I've ordered them several times for our planer. Installation is a headache, not because of the blades, but because Dewalt makes replacing the blades a 25-minute process that involves removing about 50 screws. The blades themselves do a great job and when one side wears out you can flip them over to use again. As a rule, the knives on our planer last 6 to 8 months with almost daily use. However, very hard woods like ipe or some mahogany will definitely dull them quickly. I've never used regularโ€ฆ

  • Quality construction

About "People dull too quickly "

I've also experienced replacement blades dulling very quickly as many others have said. The bearings in my planer motor have failed after more than 14 years and many sets of replacement blades. I've found that after installing the new motor mounts (which was a tough job to say the least!) my planer not only has a faster feed rate, but the blades work just as well when it was new. Another tip for changing knives: When changing knives, pay attention to the direction in which you have to turn theโ€ฆ
