Good workmanship: CB and talkback radios

I mounted a Diamond X300NA tower at 50 feet. A backup VHF/450 antenna was needed in the attic in case the tower was destroyed by a hurricane or lightning strike. The X50 works great and is suitable for 98% of all amateur radio applications.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Updates

Ideal ground antenna 2m/70cm

Great little antenna! It will do what is intended. Don't forget a good quality coaxial cable and check your connections. The SWR was even 2m and 70cm. I have upgraded to a larger model. Get up as safely as possible. Force Height / Line of Sight!

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Nothing here

Great antenna *BUT* needs to be modified for VHF use

Great antenna BUT radial antennas are tuned to UHF 440 and do nothing on VHF. We highly recommend replacing them with the radials that come with the Diamond CP22E if you want the performance you've come to expect from this VHF antenna. Call Diamond Customer Service to order a set (less than $15). Tests have confirmed this - Diamond used to feed this antenna with longer beams, but stopped for no reason! Strange.

Pros
  • Great range
Cons
  • Requires socket

Dual band antenna works well, durable!

I bought this antenna to replace the one I received in exchange, even though it was broken inside. It turned out to be a bad coax! This antenna works very well with all repeaters in my area. Include me in everything easily, maybe within a 45 mile radius. I have it on my roof. The harsh weather did not cause any problems. I am very comfortable. Performance is good, looks very solid, good for swr. The price is not cheap, but the quality is high in my opinion.

Pros
  • Quality workmanship
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Great antenna for portable audio and video

I use this with the Yaesu HT and it works very well. My antenna mount is far from perfect and the performance is quite acceptable. The antenna is small enough to be placed in a car for use in a remote location. I only gave 4 stars because the mounting bracket doesn't match the other half for pole mounting. Not the end of the world. I used half of the bracket and just screwed it to the post. I've survived strong winds, snow and rain and it's holding up very well. Without a doubt I would buy this

Diamond highest gain dual band antenna rated for 130 mph winds

This is Diamond's highest gain dual band base antenna capable of withstanding 135 mph winds. I'm less than three miles from the ocean on the Florida coast. Half a dozen hurricanes have hit my home in the last few years. I need a solid base antenna that won't deflate or break when I need it most. Paired with a Kenwood TM-281A, I was able to stay airborne during Hurricane Irma on backup power. You're less alone in a boarded-up house when you have a hurricane net and can still report.

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • I don't remember

Easy to install and very portable if desired.

Very pretty antenna. It's lightweight and easy to install. I hooked it up to an existing TV antenna mast with a 5 foot pole, giving me an overall height of 35 feet at the base. I use it with Baofeng HP-82HP and scanner. I can connect to 2m repeaters at quite a distance. I can hear police and state patrols over 50 miles away even though the antenna is not tuned to those frequencies. This antenna can be used as a portable device when camping or at events. I would not recommend installing it…

Pros
  • Pretty packaging
Cons
  • Suitable for

Fantastic Dual Band Antenna

I purchased this antenna based on a friend's recommendation and extremely positive reviews on eHam. I'm very glad I did this. Although I haven't connected it to a standalone analyzer yet, my radio reports a 1:1 SWR on the 70cm band and most of the 2m band with a maximum SWR of 1.5:1 at 2 m. no. The antenna is magic and there are so many variables that affect range. However, I work indoors in a noisy area (a Chicago apartment with no balcony is far from ideal) and can work with people 30-40…

  • Positives Only
Cons
  • No Form Required
