Description of Dips

Dips is designed for the interactive analysis of orientation based geological data. The program is capable of many applications and is designed for both the novice user and for the accomplished user of stereographic projection who wishes to utilize more advanced tools in the analysis of geological data. Dips allows the user to analyze and visualize structural data following the same techniques used in manual stereonets. In addition, it has many computational features, such as statistical contouring of orientation clustering, mean orientation and confidence calculation, cluster variability, kinematic analysis, and qualitative and quantitative feature attribute analysis. Dips is designed for the analysis of features related to the engineering analysis of rock structures, however, the free format of the Dips data file permits the analysis of any orientation-based data.

Great for efficiently creating clear site maps

I like that you can use this software without having any previous knowledge about how it works or what all these different buttons mean, which makes using something very complex so much easier! If there's anything i didn't enjoy while learning dipswell was figuring out where my mouse cursor needed too go when trying navigate around menus because they were not labeled clearly enough (for me), but once figured everything else worked great!! It really helps with large-scale projects such as…

Pros
  • Super easy
  • Very efficient for larger scale tasks
Cons
  • Some disadvantages

Great little program for engineering purposes

I like that it's easy to use, allows me to do what I need without any difficulty. It has helped me analyze my data and get better results than if I was working with software such as AutoCAD or MicroStation alone. Sometimes when you're using multiple programs at once there are conflicts between them which can make things difficult but not too much so! This isn't something to be afraid about though, just learn how to work around these problems and they'll become easier to deal with over time.…

Pros
  • Easy program for creating engineering drawings
  • Plenty tools available in this freeware version (some paid versions have additional options)
  • Good documentation included inside download files
Cons
  • Almost everything is ok

DIP Software is very user friendly and highly useful

I use Dip's software every day as part of my job, which involves working with 3D seismic sections (both 2-dimensional &3 dimensional). It has helped me tremendously over time by allowing easy access into viewing multiple views from different angles at once while also having an option where you can view all three dimensions simultaneously! There are some things that need improving such as making it easier when rotating or moving through section planes but overall this product works well enough…

Pros
  • The way in how fast loading times allow for users who want information quickly accessible; ) Very user friendly interface designed very fluidly.Allowing us visualise our data easily within any device we have available including smartphones etc.:
  • Great features providing ease accessing your desired info efficiently ;)
Cons
  • Loading speed is slow sometimes causing delay especially during peak hours
  • Needs improvement regarding options relating rotation along xyz axis

Using "dip " for plotting out multiple cross-sections

I like that it allows one to view 2D, 3d or 4 dimensional images with ease within an excel sheet without having any software installed prior (which was my problem before). It does not have all features available when using other programs such as GeoMedia Pro but works great nonetheless! Easy to use once you get used to how the interface looks/works - no special training required! Would be nice if there were some better tutorials online about tips & tricks so users can make their own…

Pros
  • Great for creating different visuals including topographic map views
  • Very easy to follow instructions provided in tutorial videos throughout site.
  • Allows creation / editing from Excel spreadsheet via simple drop down menus instead requiring separate program installation beforehand
  • Ability provide multiple perspectives by rotating image around axis' while keeping same data points visible
Cons
  • There are disadvantages

Reviewing students' work in an organized way

I love that it allows me have all my projects at once with one database instead of having multiple databases, which makes things easier when managing them from home! It's also easy enough for people not familiar with 3D software or geology (or even computer science!) to use; and if you're comfortable with Google Docs and Excel formulas, then there aren't any difficult parts. There are some small changes/additions needed but nothing too big so far. As mentioned above, this helps us manage…

Pros
  • Very user friendly interface
  • Allows many users around world access data stored in your program while allowing simultaneous editing through different computers without difficulty.
  • Works seamlessly across platforms
  • Windows PC &amp iPad version alike
Cons
  • It is hard to say
