Doctoral Cap: my feedback

If your degree merits more than the traditional mortar board, this is the cap for you. Nice quality, but a little expensive for only one time, or rare, usage.

Pros
  • It works for the graduation. The Velcro is a little annoying if you have long (or already frizzy) hair.
Cons
  • Wasn’t as nice as I wanted. The Velcro sticks out in back and gaps.

Great tam, great fit, great price

This two-button tam fits perfectly and truly looks great. I paid for the expensive graduation robe, but I just couldn't see shelling out the $150 my university recommended for a tam. I'm so glad I bought this one. It looks excellent and fits very nicely.

  • The blue and black velvet material can wrinkle easily, resulting in an unkempt appearance that detracts from the graduation attire

Good quality, fits well

My husband likes this very well! As a college trustee, he must attend several graduations each year. This product is good quality and fits him well. His head is not small. Some reviewers complained about the size, but we did not have a problem.

Pros
  • It was perfect for my graduation and for a one time use thing the price is decent.
Cons
  • The tam may be difficult to match with other pieces of traditional graduation attire, such as gowns and hoods, leading to an overall disjointed look

Worked perfectly for graduation pictures!

The tam looked well made and was indistinguishable from official academic tams at a much lower cost. Soft black velvet, good weight on the tassel, and fit perfectly on my average sized head. So glad I found this for graduation pictures during covid!

  • The tam is not a practical accessory for everyday use beyond the graduation ceremony, making it more of a symbolic memento than a functional hat

My head is around 21 " in circumference and it fit just fine.

Item came on time and as described. It comes with an adjustable velcro strap. My head is around 21" in circumference and it fit just fine.

Pros
  • Why pay over $100 for the same basic cap from the big US graduation houses. Looks great. Fits nicely.
Cons
  • The 8-sided design and intricate details of the tam make it high-maintenance and potentially difficult to clean and store properly

Does not fit — not even close

Unless you have a truly average sized head, do not buy this tam. The price is alluring, but the Velcro strap is not even two inches long. When we are dealing with something like head circumference, that's probably just going to cover the first standard deviation of the population. My head takes about a 7 1/2 fitted size, but this wouldn't fit if I were even a 7. I would be surprised if it fit a 6 3/4. It isn't even close for me, folks. I should have known better, but $29 sounded like a dream…
