Doctor's Best 5-HTP enhanced with Vitamins B6 and C provides a drug-free support for sleep, mood, anxiety and stress. 5-HTP aids serotonin production; Serotonin is the chemical neurotransmitter produced in the brain that helps regulate sleep, body temperature, sexual desire, mood and appetite. Synthesis of serotonin in the brain requires an adequate supply of either tryptophan or 5-HTP as precursors in the central nervous system. Vitamin B6 is necessary for the 5-HTP to be converted into serotonin and Vitamin C helps conversion of 5-HTP to serotonin. Non-GMO, Gluten Free, Vegan.

Instant Cure for Seasonal Depression

I don't normally review supplements this early, but this has honestly made a huge difference in my mood from day one. I went from a sunny state to a cold state, away from friends and family, and experiencing a lot of stress. I was feeling pretty depressed, and on top of that I had seasonal depression. I tried it and felt better immediately after the first day (rarely) and felt better and better over time. Waited a full week before checking out. A great success for my mood, very happy with it.

Works great but beware of potential toxicity B6

Although they work very well please be careful with them. I recently developed peripheral neuropathy and tested positive for B6 toxicity. They have 15mg per capsule (that's 30mg per day if you take 2) and along with the 3mg in my multivitamin and all the chicken I eat made me nauseous. If you're eating chicken, fish, lean beef, bananas, spinach, and avocados, you're already getting a ton of B6 and don't need supplements. These capsules can definitely piss you off, so I wouldn't recommend themโ€ฆ

my favorite brand

I've been buying for over a year and I've been taking one every day. With my doctor's approval, I use it with SSRIs so I can take less of the latter. I can't completely replace SSRIs, but taking 5-htp with SSRIs (important! under medical supervision!) is better for me than increasing the SSRI dose. I have tried several brands and this brand is one that works best and is the best value for money that I have found. I can definitely tell a difference when using a brand that for some reason doesn't
