Part works best in engines

The driver's door lock on a 2010 Toyota Highlander did not always work. I first bought a much more expensive replacement part, installed it and it fixed our problem but created new problems with the vehicle lock system. I decided to try this part but didn't have much hope that it would work. Glad I tried this part, there were no issues locking or unlocking the door. Installation is pretty easy if you're someone who likes to work on things. Many videos on YouTube will help you with this. I will…

Suitable for Camry Hybrid XLE 2012

Works great, just like part of OME. I bought this because the automatic door lock on the driver's side of my 2012 Camry Hybrid XLE started to malfunction (this was followed by about 8 beeps from the car trying to unlock it). I found several tutorials on youtube on how to remove the side panel and install the drive. It took about an hour and a half but that was because I had never done it before. It would be MUCH faster if I did it again. I suggest buying a set of replacement car panel clips…

2015 Toyota Camry Hybrid LE

Just installed this on the driver's side front door of my 2015 Toyota Camry Hybrid LE. The product appeared to be very similar to the original unit I removed from my car (small differences in the plastic case - but nothing mechanical - mostly cosmetic). The installation was uncomplicated. It took about an hour - mainly because I didn't want to break any of the tabs on the door panel and it was my first time removing that door panel. Helpful tip, don't forget to reattach the outside door handle…

Saved me Benjamins

Recently my driver's side lock started working. Sometimes it locked, others wouldn't unlock and eventually locked. I checked the batteries and fuses carefully. After some time, Google confirmed that the actuator had blown. I looked up the cost to take it to the mechanic, $5-800 was the range I got. Only part of Dorman cost over $200. So after some research and a few tutorials on YouTube I decided to take a chance because even if it breaks I can still replace it 10+ times before paying what the…

The price is right, it fits, it works

I do all the work on the car myself - engine, body, etc. If something needs to be replaced I look and see what I can find. I prefer OEM but sometimes OEM prices are unreasonably high. Like these actuators: There seems to be an issue with Toyota and the driver's door actuator. My 2009 Camry and 2015 4Runner suffer from the same drivetrain issue. OEM costs over $260 (was over $400 a few years ago). I figured since I'm doing the work myself it's mostly a time investment trying the aftermarket…
