Worked on my 2000 Mercury GM.

I watched a video on YouTube and installed it myself. I wouldn't say it was easy, but those who are mechanically inclined can do it. Small hands are an advantage.

Fits and fixes the problem

What is this PITA when the faucet door actuator fails. I have owned over 12 Grand Marquis and Town Cars and this is the first time I have encountered this problem. This device is the correct replacement part. After installing it solved the problem. Installation is another matter entirely, but that block isn't to blame.

  • Easy to use

Works best for engine cooling and air conditioning

Can't give 5 stars as I only installed it 2 months ago. If it lasts 10 years I'll give it 20 stars. It was difficult to install, but it fit the place perfectly. The Ford engineer who designed this for this place needs to replace some of them. The Ford part costs about $55 BUT IT COST $1,100 TO INSTALLE IN THE CROWN VIC.

Pros
  • Good thing
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Perfect replacement for original

I chose this Blend door operator because I had previous experience with this manufacturer. It replaces the original perfectly and works great! However, installing this unit was an absolute nightmare and a job I will not do again. The Ford engineers who designed the air conditioning and heating system for this Crown Victoria will never get a good word from me.

Pros
  • Top marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Appearance

Failed after 6 months, poor workmanship

The actuator I received was not assembled correctly - the black plastic cover (which engages the metal rod on the faucet door) was not fully seated on the shaft. Consequently, tightening the actuator down caused the linkage to become rigid. Removing the molded plug from the bottom of the case allowed the plastic cover to be positioned correctly and the bracket secured. I installed it in January 2014 and in July 2014 the part failed and clicked again. This part is not easy to install, I will…

Not bad to remove the glove box

A problem with fitting but with that we fixed two crowns. It's a good idea to remove the glove box, passenger airbag and heater air duct and you can see it. I had to detach the instrument panel and lift it about an inch to access the right front screw. Using an 8mm wrench I was able to remove all but one of the screws. The last one was either broken or I broke it messing around with the other three, so it was easy. If the driver's side front screw is present and not broken, I don't know how to…

  • Definitely a bad product

PITA for installation, but there are great tips in the online video

Hot air flowed when the air conditioning was needed, so the problem was diagnosed as this drive. Google "Ford code 024" to find out how to do a self test and what the codes mean. By unclipping the dash and removing some of the insulating material, I got to the two front screws to loosen. My car only had one screw in the back. One of them was a rack on which the module was installed. So I only had three screws in place. I had to use a pry bar to pry the tongue off the rear one. like most other…

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

My Grand Marquis was 15 years old when I bought him. Bulletproof V8, full frame, roomy trunk, great handling, great value etc. No complaints. The only problem was with the heating. When I bought it it had two heat settings, 'Fry' and 'Off', due to a broken blender door actuator. Lots of YouTube videos explaining how to fix things for around $35. You have to spend some time and create some mods, but it fits and works perfectly. This applies to auto temperature models only - make sure you buy the

Tested and working! $1,000 saved

Local businesses have tried to intimidate me into working for $1,000. I did it in 3 hours. My mechanical abilities are modest at best. How I installed it. Remove the panel, airbag, vent and air duct. remove some wires. There is no need to remove the radio or dash front screw which is easily accessible. Then I stuck a large screwdriver under it and broke the back post it was bolted to. Really lucky with that. For the front screw I cut off the plastic tab of the old part. The old part is now…
