Worked well on tailgate

The switch on them tends to get sticky and doesn't hold up well over the years. I changed the tailgate handle so it was necessary. Now it works fine!

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • repair

Works but won't work if you have keyless entry

This part said it was for my Prius and it was, but not really. If you have a wireless input/black button on the back to lock the car, it doesn't have a wiring harness for it. I cut off the end, connected it to my existing wiring harness and soldered it on.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

There are 2 different versions. It didn't fit mine.

This is a 2-wire version. Works with the base Prius. I have a 2007) The smart key version requires a 4 wire version as the sunroof has a sunroof open button (small black square) that requires 2 wires.

Pros
  • Highly rated by testers for support and durability
Cons
  • There are issues

2008 Toyota Prius Part Kit

This switch is "necessary but not sufficient" to replace the standard equipment on a 2008 Toyota Prius hatch door. The complete assembly includes a sunroof open switch AND a "lock button" on the same wiring harness. I was able to get this item (just the unlock switch) to work with my car by soldering the unlock switch to the wires of the existing "lock button" harness, but I suspect most people wouldn't want to go to the trouble of it . .

Pros
  • Sequins
Cons
  • I will write later

This is for without Smart Entry, not for Smart Entry

If this is for the Prius WITHOUT Smart Key then that's a five star rating. However, it is clearly marked "Notes: With Smart Entry, Bottom Switch", which it isn't. Technically, the switch and button are the same, but the smart key button and wiring harness are different. It will be Dorman 901-717. I wish I could do some research first instead of using this site as a proper search tool. I ended up getting it working by hooking up the wiring to my existing wiring harness.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Update Available

Overpriced but I think it's still a lot cheaper than the OEM version and fits perfectly. Note that to avoid the hassle, by removing the tailgate inner cover I was able to remove the screws holding it (I tell you it's not an easy task as they were tight and a short 90 degree Phillips screwdriver required). Pull mine out a few inches and just replace the rubber piece with this one. My derailleur was fine, just the rubber was rotted and hardened. I scraped it off my old switch, put the rubber band

Pros
  • Comfortable
Cons
  • Mostly good but...
