Good Quality Aluminum Body

This was in a 1996 Jeep XJ 4.0 with no problems. At least there are no problems on this side. My screws are rusted and broken off at the head, but that has nothing to do with it. Nice flat machined surface for a good seal with the supplied gasket. I took a dremel with a carbide bit and drilled through it for a smoother flow. Overall a good product.

  • Easy Installation
Cons

Cracks cause leaks

Everything seemed fine up until installation, then we noticed water coming out of nowhere and dripping onto the outside of the case. To remove it I had to take everything out of the engine compartment again. Then I noticed a thin crack inside coming out (see picture). Other reviews said the product didn't lay flat/flush - this could have been a problem and that's why it ripped when tightening onto the motor. In any case, we used a dirty old case that we removed that was better than this one.

  • Great for a small home

Great inexpensive replacement

This was the perfect replacement for my 2004 Jeep Wrangler X (4.0L). I first tried using my existing body with a new gasket after replacing the thermostat, but the original body still had too much dirt from the old gasket. It flowed like crazy. After completely scraping off what was left of the old gasket on the manifold, I simply applied some glue to the new body to make assembly easier. Tightened to 156 inches (13 pounds) and boom. not a drop. I also had to buy a new thermostat sensor to…

Costs money! Better OEM.

I bought a ZJ 95 for my jeep and was very happy with this purchase. The first photo shows the coolant housing before I painted it. Looks good but I decided to paint mine. The second and third photos show a comparison to my original OEM from my Jeep. I'm happy with the quality and finish just like the OEM except I noticed in the second picture the big hole is slightly different but maybe better. The last picture shows the finished installation. I am very happy with it, no leaks, no…

Check for defects before installing

I bought this a long time ago and when I finally got all the parts together to replace the entire cooling system I started working on it. However, this part has not been properly machined and does not sit flush with the engine. At first I thought I had a bad gasket but when I put in the second gasket and it was still leaking I took a closer look and saw it had a slight crease as well as a crack inside, I just cleaned the old one and newly installed. That. It was definitely not an expensive…

If flat contact is important to you

If flat contact is important to you I would recommend buying something else. If you like changing seals in this case, this case is for you! 1. 2 times it ran out at the same place, like through a sieve. The head's finish was immaculate: all the old gasket material was removed and the brake cleaned. Bolts were properly tightened to specification. The third time I used some RTV thermostats and gaskets. I had about 10 minutes of work before it started leaking, slowly this time. It was new and had…

Fits perfectly and replaces 99 Jeep Cherokee XJ

I bought this thermostat housing because my old housing was showing some wear. Installation was easy and the included gasket made for a leak-free replacement. Make sure the gasket surface is free of old gasket material. In my case, the old case had an RTV seal from the previous owner, so a spoked wheel was needed. Remember to properly tighten the screws when installing, and there should be no problems with cracking or malfunctioning. Thermostat tightening torque: 13 ft-lbs (156 in-lbs). I…
