You Can Take Photos

Reviews show that you can't take photos with this camcorder. Although it's not listed in the manual, you can actually find this feature by using the switch. It goes to HD first, then to D1, then to CIF, and lastly to Space. This is where you can capture your still images. I didn't expect this camera to be as good as most camcorders given the price, but it takes good photos and videos. The only issue is the audio quality, but overall it was a good buy for a quick video.

Mine only lasted 3 months so be careful.

I would give this camera high marks for looks, ease of use, image quality, portability and battery life. Considering that I use Sanyo batteries. Video camera, she died on me. If I wanted a disposable camera, I'm sure I could get it for a lot less. So if you value your money, I would advise you to throw in a few more bucks and get a better camera like the Fugi FINEPIX S1500. This is my new baby and it works like magic, much better than this DXG camera. Sorry DXG, I have nothing against the…

OK, but the power button was fragile

I really liked this camera for its versatility, compact size and sleek design. The all-in-one's compact profile makes it easy to slip into your bag and take with you when you don't want to carry a large camcorder. The video and sound are good and the pixels are very good. BUT two minus points: 1. Problems with the battery (2xAA). It charges batteries faster than I'd like and doesn't like turning on reliably with some batteries, even when they're new or fully charged. It's frustrating. 2. After…

Some of these reviews contain incorrect information.

1) I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHERE TO TAKE PHOTOS. No, the manual doesn't say you can, but contrary to what another poster wrote, you can select HD/D1/CIF and that's it! There is no empty space for photos. 2) A tripod is NOT included with the camera. The SD card does NOT come with the camera. Charger, battery pack, HD/audio cable, USB extender, carrying case (maybe something else, can't remember.) There may be a discrepancy between reviews depending on where you bought it. Maybe some of them will take

Excellent amateur camcorder for the price

I bought this camcorder for my friend's birthday (May 2008). I liked it so much that I went and bought one. The picture quality is amazing for the price. I am very impressed. This is not a low light (no light) camera. You need moderate lighting to see the subject when shooting indoors or at night. Keep in mind that this is not a professional camcorder. If you are looking for a professional camcorder, this product is not for you. The audio is decent when your subject is speaking loudly at a…

Nice little camera

My wife and I found this camera after looking for a present for her father. We liked it so much that we bought it for ourselves. I had some basic criteria of what I wanted from a handheld camera based on what bothered me about other cameras. First, the camera must use AA batteries instead of the built-in rechargeable battery. My experience is that the built in battery will eventually need to be replaced as the charging time gets shorter and shorter with each charge and if it dies you're out of…

DXG Flip camcorder on camcorders

We bought this little camcorder on Best Buy over 5 months ago for only $40. As some have pointed out, there was no 2GB SD card or mini tripod in the box but everything else including several sets of connection cables, batteries (2 AA), charger, case and of course the camcorder itself. Because of the price it was I was very skeptical about the picture quality, but after hooking it up to a computer and then to our 40-inch Sony Bravia HDTV, we were blown away, especially for just under $50. This…
