It's metal! I didn't expect it to be plastic. Fits like a glove and is very reliable. I am in Texas and front and rear license plates are required. Very glad I removed my license plate from my windshield.

Works well but can be ripped off if you forget to take it off off-road. I attached a small chain from this bracket to my bumper so the plate stays attached when I remove it. If you are not forgetful, then no problem.

This mounting plate is better than I thought it would be. It's heavy steel and lots of aluminum license plate supports. The clips that attach to the rollers fit well. You can adjust the distance between the side rollers to achieve the perfect fit. It's easy enough to remove if you ever get the chance to use a winch. Mine is mostly just for show. I don't get stuck.

Holds securely on casters. Quality construction and finish. The spring clips are set loose for width adjustment, I used screwed Loctite to mount/attach the spring clips. The spring clips keep everything far enough away for the wire rope to release and secure the winch hook. A small minus - the height of the screw head (actually inevitable) causes the license plate to bend a little, which is easily eliminated with washers.

Just brought to a condition where front and rear pads are required. Bought for my jeep. It works great with minimal effort and I was only able to install it safely using my leather craftsman (although wrenches would have helped). At first I was a little worried it wouldn't attach securely, but it's been a few months and it still hasn't budged. Where the cable peeks out from under the plate, it's stuck.
