Great price but for those in the know

This router and I assume all its cousins really do a lot for the price. You can have up to 5 independent routing interfaces (3 by default until you disable the "switch"), you can set any firewall rules and routing you want. Aside from the built-in browser-based UI (which you'll want to update after unzipping), you have direct ssh access to the Linux command line and can do pretty much anything you can think of once you understand Linux and networking. For example, I set up some custom scripts…

The best router I've ever had.

I've had this router for over two years now and am impressed. I'm good with computers, but I'm by no means a networking expert. This router seems to have everything I could possibly want: 100% reliable, clean and feature rich user interface, PoE, QoS, WAN failover, it has everything I need. After purchasing it, I received two of my access points and was equally impressed. I've never had such a stable network at home, now it rivals the office! The only thing that really bothers me is that the…

Comes with 2012 firmware. If you try to follow the instructions to update to the latest firmware, it doesn't work. After hours of troubleshooting and trawling through community threads (check out all the issues in the Ubiquiti community for yourself). I have found that I need to install a 2016 firmware version for it to accept the new firmware. After the firmware issue was resolved I followed a detailed user guide to run the wizards to enable DHCP which kept crashing or becoming unavailable. In

This little thing is amazing. Not for the average home user

Oh yeah! This little thing is amazing. Not for the average home user and you'll need some networking experience to set it up properly. I've tried several wireless routers and got tired of trying to fix Wi-Fi and routing issues in one package. I did a little research and settled on this guy. Very happy with it. I had no problems with that at all. Setting up 2 VLANs, VPN and POE ports powers my wireless access points. POE ports are the icing on the cake as it just means fewer power supplies and…

Slow loading, firmware update interface not working, buggy, heating up.

I just can't understand why this router has so many rave reviews. First, they position it as a 5-port router. Technically yes, but after subtracting the WAN ports you actually have less than 5. Why not remap the console port to something more useful? If you're not careful, your non-PoE gear can burn out. These are not 802.3af PoE ports. When I received this router I immediately attempted to update the firmware as recommended. The update interface did not work at all (delivered with firmware…
