TEST TERMINATED CABLES CAT5e, CAT6 and CAT6A (RJ45) and patch cords. Large backlit LCD for low lit areas displays pin to pin wiremap results. Test for Open, Short, Miswire or Split-Pair faults, Cross-over and Shield. Intuitive user interface features three buttons with simple, easy-to-identify test responses. Tone on single wire, wire pair or all 8 conductor wires. Multiple style tone generator (solid / warble); requires probe Cat. No. VDV500-123 (sold separately). Auto Power-Off feature; 10-minutes in test mode, 60-minutes in tone mode. Soft, slip-resistant, rugged overmold for easy gripping and durability. Replaceable 2 x AAA batteries (included). Replaceable self-storing remote (included).

Great networking tool!

It was great! I bought this to ensure the Ubiquiti CAT6 Plenum Cable I ordered is in good condition before I use it. I plugged each end of the 1000-foot cable into the box to test cable continuity, and to my surprise, the Klein Ethernet Tool quickly read within a nanosecond that the cable had gone through. I was amazed that this little tool could detect shorts in such a long cable. Very impressive. It also verifies that the RJ45 Ethernet wiring and connection are correct. Excellent purchase!

Doesn't remember settings

I love that I can just put a Fluke probe and this thing in my pocket and be able AND test the signal with a device (put Fluke simply to analog mode). And if I need a digital or stronger analog tint, I can get rid of the randomness in my car. But what I don't like is that when you press the tone button, you can choose which wire or pairs or all pairs the tone is sent to. And if you long-press the tone button, you can set it to a low tone, a high tone, or both (the variety we're all used to). Soโ€ฆ
