Breakthrough. There was a point where I struggled to open the lid of the film canister in my dark bag and this thing actually makes things that much easier. This little can opener glides over a film box and literally opens it with one simple movement. I strongly recommend this product.

This thing does what it says on the box. Easily opens 35mm canisters in the dark. Much better than using a bottle opener and more reliable than trying to extract the hooklink. Beautifully finished (powder coated?) and pleasing to the touch for a simple piece of cut and bent sheet steel. Highly recommended.

I don't know if the teeth on mine were out of shape or something, but I tried 3 cartridges and they all did very difficult to open. Possibly because the little groove didn't really clean the top of the film spools. When I finally got him to open the canisters, I found he had bent the metal and was beyond repair. So it would be useless if you wanted to use it for charging. Returned, unfortunately.

This is a well made tool. But it bends the top of the canister you rip off. It also scratches the canister wherever it touches it (lid/body etc) so it doesn't work for my purposes. I wanted to be able to open the film cartridges and not damage them at all so I could turn them into a new keychain. The tool works but damages the cartridges.

I have read many reviews when trying to choose the right film cassette opener. Lots of bad and lots of good. I took a chance and I'm glad I did.1. Sturdy construction, will not bend or deteriorate.2. Good design. For a person completely unfamiliar with film development, he opened the cartridges immediately without much effort.3. Good price, I don't understand why I should pay $20 for such a tool.
