It just works! - even with the latest MAC OS

I plugged it in, downloaded the free OBS software and it just works. I installed the latest version of Big Sur OS and captured several hours of old footage from an old mini DV camera. It took a few minutes to learn how to add video and audio sources to OBS, but it was very easy.

Works well with Windows 10

Excellent device. It works well with Windows 10 including Windows May 2020 Update (v2004). A nice feature is that the device is plug-and-play with Windows 10, meaning it automatically extracts and installs the required hardware drivers when plugged into a computer. For some reason this seems unusual for video capture devices. Another unusual thing about this device is that it doesn't come with its own (unnecessary) proprietary video editing software. You can use any suitable hardware…

Mono Sound Only: Computers and Accessories

No matter what I do, stereo sound doesn't work. My computer only sees it as a 96kHz mono audio device and only lets the left channel pass. Also, it worked without any configuration or driver installation, which is a step ahead of other cards like easycap products.

Pros
  • Good workmanship
Cons
  • No mold required

Works as advertised on Mac

I've used it to capture dozens of videos from old cassettes straight from the recorder (90's Sony) and OBS. He did exactly what he said, the quality was the same as the tapes but it looked better after recording. No complaints, the instructions are clear, but there's one component I don't understand, but I didn't look much because it was clear I didn't need to use it - sort of a connector for a device I don't have. I would recommend this device. You can also use it to stream video to your…

Brought new life to an old video camera

Due to Covid the organization I am part of was forced to move their annual conference somewhere else that does not have the built in video conferencing equipment that we usually use . We considered buying an expensive webcam ($800+) with an optical zoom lens that could be placed at the back of the auditorium and zoom in on the speaker. Then I read that I could use my old camcorder (early 2000s) for this since it outputs video and has an optical zoom lens. All I needed was a video capture card…

Software doesn't work

I wanted to convert 10 VHS videos I have to digital format. Knowing I would be editing videos, I decided to convert it straight to my computer. This product connects seamlessly to my VHS/DVD player and then directly to my computer. The problem came with the software. It's very, very difficult to use unless you're a computer pro and can't figure out how to program sound. My VHS video played on my computer and I was able to record it on my computer. However, the recommended software OBS Project…

It was almost plug 'n play

This video capture device was very easy to use. Connect it to the output of your VCR (RCA cable included). Connect to your Mac. Open QuickTime and the image will appear. Since I wasn't shooting HD footage, my expectations for the image were low. I haven't tried it with copyrighted material so I don't know how it will turn out, but everything was fine on VHS tapes I made myself a long time ago.

Pros
  • Finally bought
Cons
  • New competitors appeared

Remarkably Simple Best in Computers & Accessories Category

After watching the recommended YouTube while downloading and using the free OBS software, this connector made it much easier to transfer 10 hours of 8mm videotape to my computer to load . No crashes or complicated troubleshooting. Please note that an RCA video connector is included to connect the capture card to a VCR or camcorder. Also note that you can only record in real time. So if you have 100 hours of video, it will take 100 hours to burn it to your computer or hard drive.

Pros
  • Hands-Free
Cons
  • I'll Be Silent
