For commercial and advanced work, Faber Castell produces the Albrecht Dürer series, which differ in color range (more natural colors) and price.

. They are excellent when you know how to use them effectively. They do the job they are designed for. These are not colored wax crayons. Ideal for touching up and applying watercolor lines after painting.

I searched Youtube for a comparison report of watercolor pencils that included these pencils. The reviewer thinks they "won" the competition. I mostly use Derwent Inktense but decided to try these based on a review. My best description is that it's rubbish compared to them. Good for a beginner but a bit pricey for the quality and end result.

These pens use purple-cyan-yellow color theory, not red-blue-yellow. That means if you want real red you need to mix magenta and yellow (the red in the set has an orange cast). If you want pure purple, mix light blue and magenta. (Using dark blue will give you a useless muddy tone.) For this reason I would strongly discourage beginners. Even with this information, I'm having a hard time coloring people without going sickly yellow, since yellow traits are very prominent in most of these colors…
