I LOVE fresh coconut water. The only brand I like that doesn't have a diluted or artificial flavor is harmless coconut water. $5 for a small bottle didn't work for me. My local Asian store sells young coconuts for $1.99 and this opener is just great. It's sharp and easy to use. I've always been afraid to cut coconuts with a knife, but it's so easy with this tool!

Works Great! Make sure you peel the plastic off the top of the coconut before attempting to open it. I left it on and not only did it 'blunt' the blade it created resistance and I hit it about 20 times and it wouldn't cut the top deep enough to open and ended up splitting the coconut up the side and sprayed coconut water everywhere. On my next try, I removed the plastic from the top of the coconut and it worked like clockwork. Lesson learned.

I decided to invest in a coconut opener because I was spending too much time opening them with my chef's knife. So I took a chance with this product and it failed. The non-stick handle is so slippery I couldn't even get a hold of it when using the hammer. Not to mention the non-stick stick isn't even glued to the metal rod so it slides off too! I've used this about 10 times. No matter what angle you hit, some coconuts will crumble before the tip comes out. I have to use a metal bowl to catch the juice as it's unpredictable. Hit it too lightly and it won't work. Hit it hard and your juice will run out. I punched the edge of the tool as instructed. The man in the family can use this opener to open coconuts, but the woman has yet to open the coconut with this tool. Unfortunately this is not a very good product. It's very cheaply made. The metal block, the cutting part, has no nicks on the edges, making it difficult to rip off the top of the coconut when trying to open it.
