Yes it seems to be able to clean the air but in my opinion even at the lowest speed it was too much to walk around the bedroom at night, I couldn't sleep well. I've had it for over a year and would recommend this product for a small to medium sized room (which is what it's advertised for). I live with smokers so I needed something to keep that smell to a minimum. It's as good as I could have expected. I could tell the difference very soon after turning it on. The scent cartridge seems to need to be replaced frequently and there are only two options. Because I don't like any of the options and for cost reasons I don't even use that part of the product.
