I have given my mother documents and records for over 20 years that have no value to destroy. It can last a very long time compared to most consumer paper shredders. Give it an "S" oil per side every time you fill the reservoir and it will last you for years.

I like the idea of a drawer for emptying the bin, but the drawer is also the "front" of the unit because it doesn't have a frame, so when the drawer slides out, it all tends to wobble and wobble because there's no structure under that heavy top block that does the chopping.
