People with heat issues and this case are doing it WRONG.

Applies to: Kodi Edition/R.Pi4 This case is very similar to Canakit but a few dollars cheaper. You get the metal case itself, top and bottom covers, thermal pad, and 4 screws. I chose this unit because it runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and I don't want pet hair to clog the tiny fans afterwards. I had a job on the CanaKit case during the week; no problem paying attention to a few things: Since the center column of the Kodi case was painted black, as a precaution, I sanded it with very fine…

Pros
  • Made for the new Raspberry Pi 4
Cons
  • The list is getting long.

Definitely NOT suitable as a CPU heatsink

Although this case looks snazzy and almost completely covers the Raspberry Pi 4B, it is completely useless as a CPU heatsink. When I first opened the packaging and looked inside this case I was disappointed to see the ejector pin relief almost in the middle of the most critical area of this case. This area is for physical contact with the processor installed on the RPi board. A good 20% of the available space is lost. To make matters worse, there is ABSOLUTELY NO PHYSICAL CONTACT between the…

Quiet and cool: computers and accessories

My Raspberry Pi 4 came with the original case and ran consistently at around 60-70Β°C, with occasional temperature spikes up to 80Β°C. Instead, I decided to buy a fan case, thinking it would cool it down, which it certainly did. With the fan cover on, my temperature dropped to around 35Β°C. But unfortunately, the fan hum was so loud and distracting that I had to move my Raspberry Pi from my desk to the farthest corner of my room (where I could still hear it, but less so). Happy with the Pi cooler…

Pros
  • Good product for the price

  • Not as thick as other models

Fans fail, heatsinks don't.

This is my second Flirc case. I love her. They fit in your pocket when you need to move them. They are good at challenging heat. I modified it a bit. Instead of the included thermal pad, I use thermal paste and a thin copper heatsink. I bought a set of 5 radiators of different thicknesses. I found one I wanted to use by placing it on the heatsink, inserting the PI, making sure it was fully seated, and gently shaking it back and forth while gently pressing on it. I knew I'd found the right one…

Cools very well! Pi 4 B 4GB

Before installing this case I used a plastic case with 3 heatsinks. In the photo on the left, the temperature chart for most of the day with a plastic case. Then comes the decline and the right side of the photo is with this new Flirc case most of the day. The temperature difference is 20-30 degrees Fahrenheit less for the Flirc case. Installation was easy, I just removed the previously installed CPU heatsink. I left the RAM and USB heatsinks in place. I installed the thermal pad on the…
