These felt pads are the BOMB. I fixed all 8 of my chairs in about 10 minutes including drilling pilot holes. PEOPLE: DRILL FILLING HOLES OR YOU WILL BE BOUND! I tried without pre-drilling and sure enough the nail was bent and mangled. Using a tiny drill bit, drill a hole in the center bottom of the chair leg and hammer the pads into it. This is a very simple and great solution to protect your furniture and floors.

The nails were too small for the existing old pad nails. I had to fill the holes with glue to stabilize them and cure them with blue tape held in place for 24 hours. Now they are tight. Pre-drilling nail holes is very tiring, especially with small diameter bits. Fastened nails are not very strong. I tried gently pounding them with a rubber mallet without drilling a hole. In most cases I succeeded, but in a significant percentage of cases the nail simply folded to the side. Once in place, they seem to be doing their job well.
