They are good but I destroyed the first one with a hammer. I used standard spline pliers on the second and it came together fairly easily. I just opened my jaws as wide as I could and the rest was just a matter of making things nice and straight, then pushing, then pushing with both hands. I should have ordered 17mm instead of 18mm. I have quite a lot of Kuhl trousers; This is a great brand aside from their crappy buttons that open too easily. My first pair of Kuhls took 4 pairs of these jean buttons because I hit them too hard. They're hard enough to hit and certainly straight with no bending or breaking. But it's still a step up from the latches they replaced. I'm adding a 4th star because I managed to fix all my Kuhls. I have ordered another package.
