Super Dave Seal of Approval

Good connections, saves a lot of time when upgrading lighting to any LED downlight. The biggest plus is that they are easier to install in tight spaces than a standard wire nut. Just make sure you're applying properly for the job you're doing.

Pros
  • Rugged design
Cons
  • Hard to tell

I love these things!

These little tools are a lot easier to use than wire nuts. I've twisted enough wire nuts in my lifetime to last a lifetime, and while wire nuts still have their place in the industrial world, these little things are great for small industrial and home applications. Great time saver and no finger fatigue. Brilliant.

Pros
  • This is Amazing
Cons

Easy to install by electrician

More expensive than wire nuts but easy to install, provides a secure connection and takes up less space in the box. Use it on wires 12/2, 14/2 and 18/5. easy to remove by twisting the wire back and forth if you need to redo the connection. I was concerned that once removed the wire would not be as secure, but if you insert it a second time the connection is just as secure.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Not sure

Code compliance (in my area) and simplicity

For those of us who don't like wire nuts, this is the perfect answer. They are fast, easy to use and reliable. Just make sure you insert the cable so that it sits snugly in the device. I use them on all new and repair work I do and they are more expensive than wire nuts but they save time in the long run. They are also good space savers in narrow junction boxes.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Null

Difficult to insert thin wire into connector

Uses 20 gauge solid copper to connect LED bulbs. After struggling to get the wire into the connector, I finally started cutting the tip of the wire at an extreme angle to make it sharper. This seemed to make it easier to get started. This is a robust connector that offers a stronger connection than other connectors. It's probably easier to use heavier gauge wire. I haven't tried disabling one.

Pros
  • Free for educational use
Cons
  • Piggy bank prize
