Gates 31780 Fuel Tank Cap Review

Perfect fit for my 1999 Chevy Silverado 4x4. Now I have peace of mind knowing that it won't be easy for thieves to steal my precious gas!

Love how it fits my gas tank perfectly. There are no locking and unlocking problems. I want to know now that I don't have to worry about my gas being siphoned off early in the morning as I can block it. Ease of installation. Fit tested, fits! I closed the lid and then removed the factory lid. Just as!

This was driven by my 2016 FJ Cruiser on October 23, 2019. Works as stated. The engine light hasn't come on yet. The only thing he's missing is a rope. Be sure to read the locking and unlocking instructions before attempting to tamper with the lid mechanism. The instructions are also on the lid. Small print but very useful and practical.

It has been used for more than 6 months so far and has survived the winter. Strange that he said it didn't fit, but I read some of the reviews and I agree. Locking and unlocking worked as described. The only thing I noticed is that the logo and label still said Stanton when received? Maybe it's the same company, I didn't check but it was strange. Otherwise everything works as described, the check mark does not light up.

This cover fits perfectly with no problems although the fit check function on the website says it doesn't fit. Gas caps, locking tabs - McGard 24137 chrome, bought here - and VINGard (vinetching.com) are three things I do to protect cars when I buy them. It's nice to be able to get two out of three right here without having to trawl through auto parts stores etc.

In times of high gas prices, you definitely don't want to fill up someone else's car. Bought three of these hats. I used one on a 2003 Honda CR-V, one on a 2014 Nissan Maxima and one on a 2015 Subaru Forrester. Ideal for all three vehicles. Easy to install, easy to use. I love this gas cap. Unlike other brands, this one doesn't require a key to lock and unlock. It's more convenient. You only need the key to unlock, otherwise you just need to turn and click 3 times and it will be locked. Will be buying one for my mom's car in the future. Received yesterday for my '13 Chevy Silverado. I put it on and rode about 30km today. Neither the display "Check Engine" nor other problems were noticed. To unlock, insert the key and turn counterclockwise 1/4 turn. The key can only be removed by turning it 1/4 turn to the right.
