Description of 🌡️ Gates 34046 Engine Coolant Thermostat with Integrated Housing

It integrates design elements of both a thermostat and a water outlet. This allows for a simplified design since parts of the water outlet function as the thermostat flange. This also aids in installation because the orientation of the thermostat is fixed in place as the water outlet is bolted to the engine block. Gates - Driven By Possibility.

Quality Product - Replacement Parts

Used by my friends 2007 Mazda MX5. It was pretty easy to install. I would say 1.5 hours. As always, Gates products are of the highest quality. Replaced to fix the coolant code that many of these Mazdas get.

Pros
  • Absolute Legend
Cons
  • Empty

Worked great in a 2006 Mazda 3i

This was a direct replacement for the thermostat and housing in my 2006 Mazda 3i (2.0 liter engine). Fit and finish is very good and no issues after 1 month and >1000 miles of riding in the summer heat. Two thumbs up.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Some errors

Decepcionante best in spare parts

Encaja a la perfection mi Mazda 5 2006. No function. No hase su función de abrir para que circule el agua y calienta el motor por lo mismo. El carro está bien purgado, tiene solo coole at aun así calienta. Y se que no habré porque todos las mangueras están calientes, y la de la salida del termostato está fría.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • The list will be long.

Failed. Stuck Half Open

Until now, auto parts I've bought from Revain have only worked, so I assumed this one would work too. Instead, my car's cooling behavior was consistent with a stuck half-open valve: the engine was initially too cold, resulting in a P0126, but later overheated. I got a real Mazda replacement on eBay for only $15(!) and it works.

  • Few competitors

Gates quality has gone down! ZERO STARS HERE

Don't waste your time or money on this thermostat. I replaced the thermostat on a 2006 Mazda in December 2019 with the help of Gates. The first lasted less than 2 weeks before opening and triggering the check engine light. Got a replacement part and fast forward 15 months and here we are again. Save yourself the hassle and buy an OEM part.

Pros
  • This is awesome
Cons

Thermostat didn't work

The two piece design makes installation a little tricky. The block didn't regulate the coolant flow properly and I was stuck with a colder than usual engine until I installed the Motorad block. I highly recommend skipping this product and spending the extra $5 on the motorad which is a one piece design (like an OEM thermostat) and has worked well for the past month.

Pros
  • Cool product
Cons
  • Modern

Works, but the design differs from the original (dealer).

After receiving the thermostat housing and comparing it with the original housing, differences are to be expected. I have attached some photos comparing the original thermostat housing and the Gates thermostat housing. The original is the one that came from the dealer and was never altered before installation. The thermostat works and not a single leak has occurred in a week of use. I'll definitely check the thermostat housing in a few months. I'm sure it will hold up, but the design is…

  • Pleasant to use
