💧 Gates 43538 Premium Engine Water Pump - High Performance and Durability for Optimal Cooling Review

The bearing is fine but the seal started to leak heavily about 18 months after installation. I doubt that the mileage is 15,000 km.

I used another website (Rockauto) to test the setup but this one had the best price. This fits my Highlander 3.5L 2015. The seller did not specify which models it fits. The gasket was there and it fit. I've only had him for about a week.

I really liked this part. It went on well. My only concern is that I had to be very careful during installation as my first slipped gasket was destroyed when tightening this part. I've used an old gasket and it's been great so far.

The other day I heard the familiar rattling of bearings and of course there was no coolant in the reservoir because everything was on the floor. This thing has only survived 5 years of light driving. The OEM water pump lasted 100,000 before it failed so I'll spend the extra money and buy an Aisin to replace that one.

Installed with no problems, the pump only ran less than 10,000 miles for three years before the familiar wear of bearings and antifreeze leakage began. So far my story with Gates products has been positive, but now I definitely don't recommend them to anyone! The pump failed at minimal mileage and very little use.

Appears to be a good item with one exception. If you do not center the seal/plate, the impeller will rub against it and make a squeaking noise. Luckily I screwed the impeller on with only 4 screws and found the problem. Gasket loosened and moved slightly. Problem solved. That should have been in the installation instructions.

Gates pumps are usually very good. After figuring out how much I would have to pay to have this pump replaced, I searched the internet and found how easy it was. The original pump lasted 140,000 miles so I hope this pump will last another 100,000 miles. The pump was placed in a square box, which was quite unusual for a pump of such an unusual shape. You'd think Gates would at least size it up. This was on a 2008 Toyota Sienna, no shipping issues with the product or the gasket that came with it.
