Where is the fiery thread?

No wax as described. Can you still use it like 550? Of course. But then you would just buy a 550. I cut off both ends just to make sure there wasn't enough wax in one section of the cord. There is no fiery thread anywhere along the entire 50 feet of the cord. For what it should be, it's a complete failure.

  • Great design

Excellent cord for tactical and personal protection

Cord works well, feels good. The string to start the fireworks works as it should, I was very pleased with it. The sizing feels like a standard 550, no bigger and no smaller, I haven't tested it at full load but it seems the same as some of the other ropes I have and I know they're good quality . The carabiner isn't my favorite, I use aluminum locks but for utility purposes it's fine and hey it's a giveaway of sorts so no complaints.

Great addition to a storm or emergency kit.

Advantages: - 7 threads plus red wax thread all wrapped in a brown nylon sheath - Red thread glows and burns slowly - Neat plastic carabiner included. It's not designed for heavy loads, but is great for attaching that cord to a backpack. This is a short 50ft cord but is good for securing gear or in an emergency. It is lightweight and light enough to be placed easily. in an emergency or storm kit. - Good quality device and you can see it being used many times. Cons: - The coyote colored fireโ€ฆ

Great - Works Great

Now I've attached this to my bug repellent bag which I collected after seeing people in California leave their homes very quickly after fires and then have to be content with it for days what they can loot . I am planning to cut a few shorter lengths to fit in other emergency kits we have for bikes and cars for example. The fire thread is the main feature of this GEAR AID Fire Strand 550 paracord. The rest of the threads are good, useful cords. The fiery thread is key compared to regularโ€ฆ

That's the real deal. Feel free to buy it.

I'm very glad I found this. I looked but couldn't believe it. Now I'm in seventh heaven with happiness. That's the real thing guys. It can of course be used as paracord, but inside is a thick red thread that is highly flammable - perfect for starting a fire. Actually I cut off a short piece to test it. It ignited immediately and burned well. Really good. I went over to light the end of the original cord with a lighter and the thing caught fire. I had to press a lighter against it to put it out.

Pros
  • Convenient item
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

Amazing, it works

Starting a fire isn't as easy as many people think. Preparation is key. You need both a fire starter and something to start a fire. Kindling, of course, everything else. However, a cotton swab soaked in petroleum jelly, paraffin-soaked dry lint, or a candle can all help if you have them. However, it's a great idea to add waxed thread to the paracord that I will have in addition to my fire starter and any campfire aid. However, I was sure that it would not really work. Either the paracordโ€ฆ

Get ready for a hike, just in case!

I received a GEAR AID Fire Strand 550 Paracord 7 Strand Tinder Camping Survival Coyote 50ft in exchange for this review. There is a list of 10 essentials. pack EVERY time you go hiking or camping. Mostly things you'll LOVE (like water and a snack or a jacket when you get to the top of that mountain and it'll be a lot cooler there), and some "just in case". Paracord is one such item as it can be used in many cases in an emergency. (You can tie branches together to create a shelter, use it toโ€ฆ
