Something has changed. Poor signal integrity.

The last 3 I've ordered have a different driver fitted and the signal integrity is very poor - to the point that this adapter doesn't deliver the advertised data rate. We have emailed the company several times but to no avail. Go with DTech. Added some photos. One (left) of old devices with good drivers. Good sharp edges. I ran them at maximum transfer speeds for several years with no problems. Another photo (right) shows the signals from the new cables. Bad looking signals. Both photos were…

Pros
  • Rugged construction
Cons
  • Can't remember

Robust, reliable, easy to use

Works great. I have tested the speed up to 115200 baud. The supplied terminal strip is practical. FTDI drivers are standard and easy to install. Good design. Blinking LEDs in the blue port help you view transmission and reception for troubleshooting purposes.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Some problems

Does not have a standard pinout

As many have noted it does NOT have a STANDARD pinout of the DB9 connector. This is not a problem if you want to use the included divider. I know the RS422/RS485 specs don't give an official pinout. However, most controlled devices use Sony's VTR pinout, which has become the industry standard. This adapter has a different pinout, which you should read as a PDF on the small CD that comes with it.

Excellent RS485/RS422 USB Adapter for Linux and Windows 7

I've been using this adapter for a few hours on both Linux and Windows 7 and it works great with no problems. A clear plus is the supplied terminal block, with which you can quickly find the right pin assignment without soldering the D-SUB-9 connector. - from a D-SUB 9 connector. It would be nice if the vendor would provide a link to the data sheet to get a heads-up: [.]

Works as it should in a 2-wire RS-485 system.

I needed a 2-wire RS-485 system. To do this, you must follow the wiring instructions when two of the four wires are not used. The cable length is ok. It comes with a socket adapter so you can easily adapt it to your existing system wiring. It also comes with a driver CD.

Pros
  • A dream come true
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

This product has worked flawlessly for me.

I had another USB to RS485 converter that I have been using for a little over a year. It cost a little over $100. , but I could never get it to work properly on my Win7 laptop at work, so I always had to pull out my personal laptop (an old WinXP box) just to program certain devices. GearMo installed with no issues and connected to my devices right away on the first try. My only concern is that I want the terminal block to be built directly into the cable and not onto the PCB. Not a big deal…

Pros
  • COMPATIBILITY - Supporting multiple operating system platforms, our product is very versatile. Supported operating system platforms: Windows 7, 8 and 10 as well as Linux and MacOS 10.X
Cons
  • High price

Exactly what I need, works exactly as advertised

I have used this little device to develop firmware for several building automation sensors based on PIC16 microcontrollers. The sensors are deployed on a multidrop bus that provides both RS485 based communication with the main controller and power supply. With a bit of cable, this device allowed me to communicate with all the sensors on the bus from a windows laptop using a small application I had written in C under Cygwin. RS485 is an electrical specification for a shared bus, and this little…

Works as advertised

I have used this converter on two different Win 7 64-bit machines and on a Mac Mini with Win 7 32-bit in boot camp. The device works perfectly on all machines. The port assignment can be changed in the Windows Device Manager and the assignment is saved in the OS. I am using a device on an RS-422 network with only one receiver. The device arrived repaired when; 1=T+, 2=T-, 3=Rx+, 4=Rx-, 5=Ground and 6=Vcc. It has an attached terminal block so you can cut the end of the serial cable and plug it…
