You should change the strings

Good price for a plumb bob and the hexagonal shape helps reduce wobble when used close to a wall as it can't roll. However, the strings are very thin, easily twisted and tangled. You spend a lot of time untangling and untangling them. I replaced the strings with heavier strings that don't make it as heavy.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Low maintenance

This product serves its purpose.

This solder does its job perfectly. I gave it four stars because the line that comes with the plumb bob keeps its shape (it's folded quite tightly inside) making it difficult to manipulate. Replacing the line is easy enough, but I could just buy a plumb bob without a line. Still a solid product, but save yourself the frustration and buy a nice plumb bob!

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Expensive

Great if you want a disposable tool

It's steel so I knew it would rust over time (without proper care) but it should arrive rust free when new. Mine showed noticeable rust at the end of the string. When the threads rust, the rope cannot be replaced and your bob is just a paperweight. Revain did a great job refunding this order and I was willing to spend the extra money on a brass bob. Are you looking for a cheap disposable bean, this steel one is good in every way. If you plan to keep it for a while, skip this and get down to…

not bad is what says no more no less

its solid metal. no sarcasm here, i was expecting it to be a projectile with a lead weight on the bottom, the cord is a bit cheap but its quite picky about knitting. Overall it's a decent lot. If you're looking for something for commercial use, I'd spend the money on something better (no chalk line option). But I digress. for $8 it actually beats everything else. I weighed it on a scale (yes, I was bored), it's actually closer to 12.4 ounces, but I suspect they have looser processing tolerances

Pros
  • The best in its niche
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Worth every penny in Plumb Bobs

An invaluable tool when it comes to building custom cars. My only complaint is that it's not black like the picture, although I won't remove the stars as it doesn't affect the quality of the instrument. This is a good quality bob, you can spend more money and you won't get as beautiful as this one. It's a good weight, I like how it's attached, it keeps it perfectly straight. Comes with lots of rope, too much for my car assembly but can't complain about it and I'm sure it's a big bonus for other

Pros
  • Everything is great!
Cons
  • Some flaws

A plumb bob that's not even a plumb bob

The sole purpose of this tool is to plumb the planet and it can't even do that. The structure is very simple: A cord goes through the middle of a hollow knurled screw, which is screwed into a plumb bob at the top. The problem is that the hole for the screw it screws into a plumb was drilled and off-center by 0.031" (I measured it with vernier calipers). So when you hang it, if you rotate it slowly, it will hang at an angle. You can see how it vibrates. Also, the picture shows the tool is…

  • I really have no complaints about it, it's ok
