Description of Generic Cylinder Leakdown Detector Compression

Designed to detect a variety of common engine faults including: Worn piston rings, worn valves, cracks in cylinder walls and blown head gaskets. Available with either single gauge or twin gauge manifold. Gauge(s) show % of cylinder leakage or cylinder leakage and cylinder pressure. Suitable for use on any petrol engine with 12 and 14mm spark plugs. TU-21 Cylinder Leak Detector Tester checks the amount of leakage in an engine cylinder & helps determine the source. Best used when comparing a suspect cylinder to a known good cylinder on same engine. Ideal for testing trucks & late model cars where clearance is minimal. Equipped with 2-1/2" input pressure gauge for proper leakage test setup and accurate results. Pinpoint the source of compression problems by doing cylinder leak-down tests Works with domestic and import engines Input and leakage gauges with rubberized housing Air pressure: 0-7 BAR, 0-100 PSI Brass fittings Measures leak percentage from 0-100% 1/8" NPT manifold ports.

Poor Quality: Tool Kits

This tool didn't work the first time I used it. The percentage arrow whirled and stuck. The supplied air hose was leaking at the compression fitting.

Pros
  • Decent Performance
Cons
  • Expensive

First read the manual

At first the seam didn't work properly but it was the operator (ME) and once I had the gauge set correctly it worked easy to find Note, read the instructions first.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Out of fashion

You get what you pay for

Gauges are not initially calibrated and are 40psi from zero. The rubber protection around the notches is too big. Don't buy this. Spend more and get something better

Pros
  • Builds confidence
Cons
  • Not sure

Negative pressure only. Suitable for tools and equipment

It's making a comeback. I tested it on an engine with a bad head gasket, didn't encounter any problems, I think due to the low air pressure. The secondary gauge must be a very low pressure gauge since it reads 100 percent with only 15 psi of inlet pressure. I want one that will accept 100psi inlet pressure that will actually find leaks.

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Style 90

What garbage!

Used to determine the condition of rings and valves in a gasoline engine. You must be able to TRUST these devices. I bought 2 for a Christmas present and they both broke when used 4 months later. They read 15-20% leakage when the engines were actually at 3%. Absolute GARBAGE! Do not buy. Spend your money on OTC shares!

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time
