Always use OEM parts

This is a new car filter. The last thing Subaru wants is to tear the engine apart. Of course there are other filters out there and tons of videos where amateurs cut filters like it's the ultimate test of quality.

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • Very expensive

They sent me the wrong filter

Ordered this to keep until I needed an oil change, they sent me a Toyota branded Tokama filter or something, no product was shown. I have ordered this before and received the Subaru filter before and this filter is excellent. Unfortunately it's been a long time since I ordered this in February so I don't think I have a chance to ask for help.

Pros
  • Easy to read panel
Cons
  • Reliability

Fits 2015 Subaru BRZ. Get a key 80 for this.

There are 2 different oil filters that you can buy for your BRZ. This is the black Japanese version and requires an 80mm wrench for installation. The blue filter has a different diameter and is available at most auto parts stores. So if you buy this one make sure you get the 80mm wrench and not a different size for the blue filter. The filter was very easy to install.

  • Handsfree

130 GT filter approved for Forester FB25 engine

I just love that it's an OEM and made in Japan. I'm trying to find a decent filter for my car and the Subaru blue filters that FRAM makes now just don't fit. Check out the YouTube video where they tear apart Subaru's new cheap OEM blue filters. Here in Canada they charge a lot for it, I think because they drive in BRZ they think it's premium. Our socialist country.

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Expensive

Better than blue filter for Forester

I used this on my 2017 Forester with 2.5 liter engine. I was very skeptical about American made blue filters as they appear to be made by Fram which I'm not a fan of. These filters are actually designed for the Subaru BRZ, but they are more than adequate for the less efficient Forester engine. I have driven many miles in my car and am now using my third filter with no problems.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Oil filter Subaru 15208AA130

I have one for my FRS sold by Revain not a third party. The packaging looked well sealed despite having a hole punched in the plastic wrap that usually covers the bottom of these items. Overall, it looks like the product is legal. My friend went to a third party and got a ridiculously bad fake a while back. I will update this review after using this OEM filter and cutting/comparing to the regular NAPA brand filter and the fancy Greddy filter. (All work with the same oil - Royal Purple.) Edit…

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Not all will fit

JDM Maximum Credit Filter.

In recent years I have paid a lot of attention to which filters fit my Forester. Because Subaru does things a little differently, finding one that has the right specs and most importantly the right wastegate pressure can often be a challenge. Almost all generics I've found will fit, but the pressure is MUCH low which means the oil gets past the filter more often. I don't trust the build quality of the blue OEM made in North America as others have mentioned that they are made in the Honeywell…

Pros
  • Best
Cons
  • Some difficulties
