I use glass nail files and was surprised to see glass nail buffers available - as they can last a long time IF they don't break. They seem to be durable. The cover protects them and polishes them to a high shine. I ran out of a file completely and it wasn't as brilliant as a similar effort with other forms of natural buffers.
